Expedition to Astaeo
The ship Salvation sailed west to find the new world and to found a colony for Trafelquoy, her homeland. Her captain had other plans – he intended to use this ship to found a new colony, independent and free from Trafelquoy’s rule. His treason was ill received, and he was replaced by the first lieutenant, whose concern was for the well-being of the crew and colonists.
The ship landed on an uncharted tropical island, where she waited for repairs before continuing the trek across the sea. Some brave souls (our heroes) charted the island and located an ancient artifact, a stone used by the gods to diversify life during the dawn of time. It was stolen by the demoness Ulgu-Astraga who died long ago; now it was being used for foul purposes by her daughter Lamia. The heroes thwarted her corruption and destroyed the stone, earning the favor of Pelor and the respect of the Salvation’s crew.
A long month at sea passed slowly as the Salvation glided around the globe. Close to their destination, they passed through some astral phenomenon at sea – a place of supernatural horror called the Teeth. The Salvation was attacked by a star-spawned creature and her deck was marked by strange, glowing obelisks rising from the cursed waters.
They were transported by the Teeth, near to the new world’s coast. When they made landfall, the party journeyed south. They uncovered a plot by a previous expedition’s men to control the goblins of the land. The ranger Manimarco had united all the tribes and was allowing them to harass the peaceable native settlements.
The heroes made the goblins fear them, and during their travels they earned the support of a powerful fey queen. She sent treants to protect the natives as thanks for the heroes’ help with a pesky dragon.
Manimarco, the man who controlled the goblins, learned of their arrival, and sought to control the colony. They thwarted his attempt, and he fled back to his goblins to plot their downfall.
Their colony would have to move far up the coast to hide from his retribution. Meanwhile, the heroes pursue a greater threat – the menace from the Teeth followed them here, and it has infected their colony. They seek answers in the clockwork mine, where the invaders are headed.
